"Cascade Cares" Weekend:
Fun Run, Pasta Feed, Health Fair

A full slate of events is scheduled at the Sixth Annual Cascade Lake Run Friday and Saturday Sept. 28-29 in Cascade. The fundraiser supports Cascade Cares Inc., which was established in 2002 to assist families experiencing a death, fire, major illness or other extenuating circumstances. Friday will feature a pasta feed at 6pm with music, no-host bar, raffle and auction at The American Legion Hall off Idaho 55, Cascade. Saturday features a Fun Run at 10am at the Cascade Medical Center at 402 Old State Hwy. in Cascade. At 1pm there will be a health fair at the Medical Center where tests will be administered to check hearing, blood presure, bone density and fitness. Mini massages will be given as well as blood draw to check cholesterol and glucose levels, and lectures will be given starting at 1pm. For more info call 208-315-1866

Mushroom Foray Sept. 27-30

The Southern Idaho Mycological Association invites anyone interested in finding and identifying fall mushrooms to participate in its annual Fall Foray September 27-30 in McCall. A "foray" is mushroom lingo for an organized hunt for all types of fungi, both edibles and non-edibles. The mushrooms are then identified and added to the list of almost 2,500 species of mushrooms found in the grater McCall area. Full registration for seven meals and three nights lodging at Quaker Hills Lakeside cabin is $80. There is also a daily rate of $40 that includes meals. The fee to register only for a daily foray, evening meal and workshop is $20. The Saturday Night dinner is potluck, so bring a salad, side or dessert. Lower rates for children and college students. Benefit Auction September 8

A benefit auction to aid a McCall woman fighting cancer will be held at 3pm Saturday Sept. 8 at the McCumber residence at 14096 Morell Rd. in McCall. Live music will begin at 3pm and food will be served throughout the day. No pets should attend, but auction items will be accepted on the day of thie auction. To reach the McCumber home take Elo Rd. south of McCall to Boulder Lake Rd., to Morell Rd. and look for the signs. For more info call 208-634-1389.
