Mardi Gras Parade at Winter Carnival

You never know who, or what, will show up for the Mardi Gras Grand Parade, the high point of The McCall Winter Carnival. The parade began at noon Saturday. The wild, colorful procession wound its way down North Third St. (Idaho 55) starting at Stibnite St., curved around the corner at Hotel McCall and made a final turn up First St. just past Manchester Ice & Event Centre. The parade featured many free spirits who marched and rode in a variety of outrageous costumes or vehicles. Some entrants even performed drills along the route, but no high school marching band ever looked like this.. and as always, a great time was had by all at The McCall Winter Carnival Mardi Gras Parade!

"Buck-A-Bag" Book Sale

The annual McCall Winter Carnival "Buck A Bag" book sale begins today and runs through Saturday Feb. 2 at the McCall Public Library. The Friends of the Library run the winter sale in the library's board room. Hours are 10am to 6pm Monday thru Friday and on Satruday 10am to 2pm. Proceeds fund library progrms and improvements. In addition to running library book sales, the Friends of the Library run the Pump House used book store, host the annual Festival of Trees, and sponsor the Armchair Travelogue series. The Winter Carnival Approaches!

2008 McCall Winter Carnival will begin January 25 and run through February 3. Enjoy our local "winter wonderland" of events including but not limited to: Ice Sculptures, Fireworks, Parades, Monte Carlo Night, Bingo, Dog sled pulls, The Yellow Pine Harmonica Festival, and lots of winter fun for you & your family. "Craft Faire and Chocolate - Yum!" Event

We are seeking vendors for our annual winter "Craft Faire and Chocolate - Yum!" event, seeking quality handmade items, quality home decorating items and foods with chocolate. This event will be hosted here at The Holiday Inn - The Hunt Lodge during the McCall Winter Carnival. Dates are Saturday Jan 26-27 and Friday and Saturday Feb. 1-2. Teams Sought for Idaho Snow Sculpting Championship

Teams of artists are invited to take part in the 22nd Annual Idaho State Snow Sculpting Championship to be held Jan. 29 through Feb. 1 which is midweek of the 2008 McCall Winter Carnival. A total of $1,500 in prize money will be given away to teams of three persons or less, all of whom must be over the age of 21. For more info call 208-634-7056.
